No experience needed. No pressure. Just come try a real class and see what True North Dojo is about.
First Time Here?
Before your first class, we invite you in for a 15-minute introduction. We'll give you a tour of the academy, get you set up on our app so you can start reserving lessons, and get you or your child into a uniform — in most cases all before your very first class. It's important to us that everyone feels comfortable before stepping onto the mat.
Your introduction will usually be done directly with your instructor. If not, we'll make sure you're introduced right away. We believe the relationship between teacher and student is everything — so we want that connection established from day one.
All our academies offer 5 classes per week to choose from, so it's flexible enough to fit any schedule. After we've seen you 3–4 times and feel there's a genuine connection, you'll be invited to join the academy. We don't accept everyone — we believe the teacher and student need to truly connect before real progress can begin.
Not all martial arts schools are equal. Everyone might wear a uniform and have black belts, but that doesn't make them the same. Whether it's Karate, Taekwondo, or Kickboxing — if you have the wrong teacher, it won't work. Choose carefully.
Not all martial arts schools are the same. Here's what to keep in mind before you commit.
Don't just pick the cheapest option. Quality instruction is an investment — in yourself or your child.
Don't just pick the closest school. A short drive to the right academy is worth it.
Talk to the instructor. Make sure the academy's philosophy matches your values and what you're looking for.
Know the history of the academy you're joining. Reputation and lineage matter in martial arts.
If you have the wrong teacher, it doesn't work — regardless of the style, the belt, or the uniform.

We have had a great experience here with my teen who didn't start Karate until he was 15 and has progressed so fast and has learned a lot in just a year. Great positive environment that he looks forward to each week!

Highly recommended! Our child has done karate here for a year and it has been a great experience — he's getting exercise, discipline, and karate skills taught by top notch, friendly and professional instructors.

Kids are always excited going to the Dojo. Not only are they learning Karate, but making friends as well. CBK is a great training environment for kids. Shihan is very professional and keeps the Dojo neat and clean.

Our 5 year old son has been attending for about three months now and is thriving. The instructors are fantastic with the kids, teaching discipline while keeping things fun and engaging. Highly recommend!

Canada's Best Karate has become our second home. Both kids spend about 8 hours a week at the dojo and love it. It's a safe place for them to be themselves while learning discipline and respect.
